Alright so i'm gonna put here every piece of info i can get from wowhead on the Gul'Dan mythic phase :

The mob of this page is the boss mob, it has 2'666Mhp (Slowclap).
The sequence that spawns him starts at 10%hp on gul'dan, it seems it can spawn before gul'dan dies, or that it kills gul'dan when it spawns, not sure.

The fight seems to be a 'classical' fight, in that there is no mannoroth-rng or %hp techniques in it, everything seems to have fixed timers :

Nightorb is an orb, shielded by Nightshield that interacts with the player with Bulwark of Azzinoth
It seems that only one player can get the shield debuff at the same time. The nightorbs lose hp continuously and turns into time stop fields upon dying (more on that later), when a player is near them it casts Capricious Barrage on them

Add spawning : Soul Fragment of Azzinoth spawns at intervals, does ? something, seems its a pain in the ass given they chain cc them

Debuff management : Parasitic Wound spawns those adds Parasitic Shadow Demon much like botanist's mechanic

And some others that i can't seem to find in here :
At intervals, TDW will throw fire discs at people away from him, it deals aoe damage around the target and disappears instantly
At intervals, TDW will send a clone to jump on a tank (via debuff ?) that will deal aoe damage and leave a green pool of fire
AWhen they die, the nightorbs turn into time-stopping fields. You need to use those to be safe from Visions of the Dark Titan TDW does, it is a big-ass explosion that looks very cool where the boss positions himself like Archimonde in the mphase (on a side of the platform, giant), it does not come often, this ability also seems to interact with two adds : Demonic Essence that turns into Purified Essence somehow and stick around, or not, nothing is certain.

Now that legion raids+dungeons have gained legacy loot status (huzzah!), I thought I'd give them all a try solo to see how hard they were, and how rewarding too (both in gold and transmog).

My 469ilvl BM hunter had no real issues til Nighthold mythic (EN Normal, Hc and Mythic was fine, NH normal and hc was also fine), and even then it was only 2 bosses - Krosus, and Gul'dan.
Or more specifically... The Demon Within :(

I was very very quickly overwhelmed by the parasite Parasitic Wound he spawns (that after 7sec (?) stuns you, jumps out briefly, then jumps in and duplicates).
After a very short time, I had 16 stacks of this debuff whittling down my health and stunning me...
I ended up calling a friend to help, which tbh didn't do much (both then got the parasite... urgh).

Until I used the mechagon dps essence Purification Protocol ! (mine is rank3, which may make a difference)
I popped it on top of myself (using my 'on cursor' target macro for ease of use) just before the parasite was due to stun +exit me... and it basically vaporised it instantly (unsure if it 'annihilated' it, or just killed it fast enough with damage)... meaning it didn't re-enter.

I then could just go about my day killing the demon without issue.

Note, I have read that using an immunity spell, near enough at the very start when demon activates (after his long RP...) can prevent the parasite from getting in in the first place, but sadly aspect of the turtle didn't work for this. I'd assume pally bubbles and mage iceblocks would have more success if this is true though.

I hope this helps someone looking to also solo it.

tl,dr;
soloing Gul'dan Mythic is much more possible now, just popping Purification protocols on yourself 1-2secs before the parasite stuns+exits should kill it, and allow you to finish the demon within phase without issue.

In Mythic mode, the parasites he infects you with will multiply and reinfect you while you're still stunned, leaving you almost stunlocked (and taking exponentially increasing damage) for the rest of the fight.

This means that, to solo him, you'll want some ability that can kill the parasites while you're stunned. Basically, some form of AoE damage that remains active while your character is not, like Death & Decay, Consecration, Earthquake, etc. (note that channelled AoE abilities will get interrupted by the stun). If your class doesn't have any such ability, you can use something like the Heart of Azeroth's "Purification Protocol" essence, and cast it just before the parasites hatch.

Some (invulner)abilities can also prevent the parasites from infecting you (or clear them), but those tend to have pretty long cooldowns, so you'll only be able to use them once (which may be enough, if your DPS is decent).

TL;DR - If you don't want to have to worry too much about timing, solo him with a class that has long-lasting non-channeled AoE, and make sure it's always active. Even if it doesn't kill every single parasite, it should keep them under control easily.

For anyone trying to do this after patch 9.1.5: while the shadow parasites will no longer stunlock you, you still need to burn the boss down before he casts Visions of the Dark Titan. I couldn't do this at ilvl 203, but succeeded at 211.

Still puts up a hell of a fight, damn. I'm a balance druid who's not quite optimally geared. Mostly BiS, but not entirely, because I couldn't be arsed to grind mythic pluses.

Tried several times as a ret pally ilvl 225 and always got killed by the Visions of the Dark Titan.
Guess I'll wait until next xpac and hope he gets easier with the next lvl squish.

247 Warlock, had to switch to Affliction. Just keep dots up and spam Drain Life and the Parasitic Wound won't be able to do any real damage. Finished the fight off with full health without any consumables (Healthstone included).
