After killing the Exarch, my power went out before we could kill the Avatar. After returning, my group had left. I was informed by one of the members that they did kill the Avatar, but he dropped nothing.

The Avatar doesn't drop anything on normal.
- However on Heroic he drops some fairly decent loot.

No extra badge, though. ;(

Yes, All of these items can only be dropped on Heroic Mode. The Martyred drops nothing on Normal.

BTW-"Wastewalker Shoulderpads"= Killer Feral Drood Pre-Kara SP's!!

It's too bad that nothing drops in regular, and that you can only get these items after you've been 70 for awhile. Especially the mace would be interesting in a shockadin's hand for pvp. The spellpower would be incredible for a lvl 69 shockadin in BG's where the only other options essentially net a total of 56 spellpower.

Good thing shockadins can be healer's too. Perhaps someone will run a lvl 68-69 shockadin for healing in a heroic and make him very happy with some great loot. Then again, a 16% chance isn't too great either....

Despawns if you wipe on him after finishing off the Exarch, just a warning for fresh 80 feral druids trying to solo through.

In case you're a little slow like me and clear the instance then going 'hrmmm I swear I didn't see him" This guy is summoned by Exarch Maladaar during his boss fight (the last boss.) If you're a high level who solos it you need to lightly tap at Maladaar until he summons the Avatar otherwise you'll kill Maladaar too soon and the avatar won't summon. Once it is summoned you can then kill them both and get two lots of lewts (H mode.)

If you're soloing him on heroic mode and you're a rogue, hunter, mage, night elf...or anyone else that can leave combat...you can burn Maladaar down to about 20% and then he'll summon the Avatar. Kill and loot the Avatar without slaying Maladaar, leave combat and the fight will reset as expected. However, he will summon his avatar when he reaches low health AGAIN which can then be looted AGAIN!

He summons the avatar around 20,000 health. If you're farming him by using shadowmeld/feign death/invisibility, make sure you get him around 20,000 and then you should see the Avatar spawned. Kill the avatar, dismiss pet if needed, and feign death. One thing you may want to watch out for is Ribbon of Souls. I was able to resist most of them, but it reduces your damage by 50%, so if you're doing this on a lower-levelled alt you may want to wait for it to wear off.

As a rogue i was farming this boss to get druid-style gloves for my "tree" transmog.
To be able to see avatar and without killing the boss itself, i put off all my gear except for 2 daggers (548+543) and *didn't* use any poisons. i did 2 hits with mutilate, and 2-3 melee attacks and reset target (esc), so he could summon avatar and then Vanish.

after 26 kills i got:
4 x Auchenai Death Shroud
7 x Draenic Wildstaff
1 x Natural Mender's Wraps
4 x Sky Breaker
5 x Wastewalker Shoulderpads
5 x Will of the Fallen Exarch

~~So no gloves yet from RNG Gods.~~

UPD: on 26 kill i got gloves. updated counts. Now only head and chest pieces left :)

This boss is giving me 250 Rep with Lower City at level 100. Running out of the dungeon without killing Maladaar allows him to spawn infinitely. The More You Know™.....

A tip for running this on a level 100 toon; Take off all your gear, and just punch Maladaar until he goes below the hp where he spawns the add. Just remember to press ESC fast enough to cancel the Autoattacks when he starts summoning the Avatar.

You can also do it multiple times even on heroic, just kill the Avatar and run to the exit while Maladaar is following you. He's HP will reset, and he will summon another Avatar once he reaches the HP level.

At 110 completely naked, 1 fist autohit takes about 90% of his hp on heroic. If it crits you're gonna kill him.

I suspect on normal we'll one-shot him no matter what, same next expansion when we hit 120. With res sickness it might still work.

If you are looking for his transmogs simply bring naked night elf and punch Exarch Maladaar once or twice he will summon this avatar then you can shadowmeld and repeat until you get your mogs

IMPORTANT! Stolen Soul Recudes your damage by 50% ! so watch out

there is chance to kill him if you crit ofc so if you wanna be more safe bring ress sickness

Running this to get the Auchenai Death Shroud. Have killed the Avator about 10 times now and no loot. This is after the changes to the leveling system in 7.3.5. Normal mode DOES scale, FYI, but Heroic is still set to 70. Unfortunately, I didn't try this method on Heroic, so I will have to try on another toon that doesn't have to run out to reset the boss. I will keep trying, but it seems as though the new patch caused the Avatar to NOT drop loot, at least not on normal.

Tested in 8.0.1 and he seems to still not drop any loot for a level 110 character, even with the changes to force group loot for content more than 10 levels below character level. The two bosses correctly dropped 2-3 pieces of gear, so it is likely just a bug that still isn't fixed.

I highly recommend farming this guy with a druid. As a druid you can equip every single item he drops, and you get a free "feign death-like" effect with a talent in feral spec. Add to that the moonfire that lets you deal little amounts of damage... This makes this farm ridiculously easy. Bonus points if you're a Night elf druid, because the racial lets you get out of combat as well, so you go twice as fast !

If you're high level and can't fight Maladaar without one-shotting him, use the Whole-Body Shrinka'. It dramatically cuts your damage to the point where you can easily get him low enough to summon the avatar without the worry of killing him. Good luck collecting the transmog that the avatar drops!

For my night elf druid, I farmed them very easily with inviting a friend level 100 and using party sync so I can decrease my level, then I go naked and punch him and use some spells without dots until he summons Avatar, I kill Avatar & loot him then I run away and use Shadowmeld, this way I kept resting boss until I got all loots from Avatar.

The avatar spawns when Exarch Maladaar reaches 25% HP. If you kill the Exarch, you'll have to wait for the daily reset, but the avatar itself can be spawned infinitely if you restart the fight, and he drops two pieces of gear every kill (on Legacy Loot mode). Different ways I've found to farm this boss multiple times a day without having to wait for the daily Heroic lockout:

Abilities that puts you out of combat such as Vanish, Shadowmeld, Feign Death, Incarnation: Avatar of Ashamane.
Running out of the instance.
Jumping off the bridge where Shirrak the Dead Watcher is located (faster than running back to the entrance if you can afford the repair bill) - you'll release at the entrance.

In BfA, as a level 90 feral druid I was able to solo the whole place and do enough damage to Maladaar to bring him down without killing him.

I Found the fastest way to get all the transmog from this dude was to use a Night Elf Rogue (Vanish and Shadowmeld)

Die from Fall Damage outside of the dungeon, Get ress sickness, which makes you pretty safe damage wise (so you don't one-shot him)

Took me 7 kills in Total to get everything

can confim the toy "whole-body shrinka" does perfect for dps against exarch maladaar to summon avatar of the martyred. 100% perfect! - works in patch 9.2.5 (use before entering combat)

At level 60 (Shadowlands), you can one shot the Exarch while naked. Overkilled by 35%. Unless you find a way to reduce your stats further, you may need to come here with a level 35 or so.

Try getting resurrection sickness.

If you are trying farm this in 10.1.7 you need a char lvl 35.
If you are 33 boss gonna kill you but at 35 u can still slow down him hp and dont even die
