In the Heroic version of Shattered Halls, these mobs hit very hard (about 4K on plate). They are CCable, but every few seconds, their master will shout a random phrase, and any CC on them will break. It is advisable to kill these first, as they have relatively low HP, and just offtank the Houndmaster until the dogs die.

these willmost likely cause an immmediate wipe if not taken out fast in H ramps they hit dam hard for non-elites....i just think there a bit OP with there damages since they arent elite

With 9138 patch now they are tameable dont need to get beast mastery to tame it same wolf abilities with different model :)

Confirmed tamable as of patch 3.0.3.

Easy tame for a 70 geared Hunter in normal mode. I have mostly Kara/Scourge epics and did this very easily.

Pull first two mobs, one in to a freeze trap. Wipe them out and solo pull the bridge pat. Repeat step one for the next two pull. After the bridge you'll want to pull the three mob on the right wall (1 melee 2 caster) down the bridge away from the pat. I burned the casters with time to spare on the frozen melee mob. Once you have that pull done wait for the pat that comes almost to the end of the bridge. Freeze trap early (so it's on cool down) and pull a wolf into it. Burn the melee mob and the loose wolf. By that time the last wolf will break loose. Freeze him again, abandon your current pet, and tame. Done. Simple. Easy.

Confirmed it can be tamed.

Damage appears to be the same as other wolves, and it loses its carnivourus bite. It retains furious howl however and appears to have nice stats. Might make a viable raid pet due to the AP buff wich can proc every 10 secs for 10 secs and scales.

Got mine last night named it epicmount. You need to kill the orc that patrols with the dogs to tame the wolf. He has an interrupt that stuns you for 2 seconds or so.

Took a ret pally and a mage into heroic ramps with me. Got mine today, level 69. Just 4 less levels I don't gotta do. :)

This pet looks awesome and gets attention, especially from Horde. Being a Night Elf hunter with a wolf that has the Horde Symbol on it killing Horde is kind of ironic and amusing. :)

No special stats, same as every other wolf.

Tamed one of these guys yesterday. I named her Nightshade. XD

Had to have my warlock friend come with me to tank some of the mobs. I've had 15 tells asking me where I got it. XD

I got one earlier today. Named him Richard, because it's a pretty name, and it goes well with my other pets' names (Norbert, Pierre, Kuro, Piggy).
If you want a matching minipet, get a Worg Pup http://www.wowhead.com/?item=12264.
The quest is no problems at lvl 70, and you'll sure get some looks from other people :)

Easy to solo tame these guys at 70. just pick up a trash pet u can dump in the instance, clear all the guys on the bridge and the group on the right. after that wait for the frist patrol guy with the wolfs to come around kill him and trash your trash pet and tame one of them, they dont hit hard.
called mine Spike hehe love it cuz he look like my mount.

My hunter has 1 of these as her ferocity pet, Not gonna get rid of it ever. I have a feeling this is a tammable pet for now kinda like the spirit wolves that were in Dustmallow marsh for a few weeks.

Yeah I tamed one of these too and they are awesome, he actually out does my cat. I wish they were a tamable for a little bit I also wish that they were only tameable by beastmasters. I have the frost wolf mount and also want to get the companion pet to match mine is named Grizzly and I really like him.

Here's a tip on how to do this with mostly Merciless-level pvp gear (requires level 70+)

When you start this, use a pet that can debuff enemies. I had a sporebat, which pretty much did 3 ranks of sunder armor at one time. Keep the pet on passive at all times. For the first pull, send the pet to attack one, and drop a trap to freeze the other. Simply kill them one by one.

After that, grab the one that patrols on the bridge. Easy. The two at the end of the bridge are easy as well, just like the first pull.

Now, for the hunter and wolves, pop aspect of the viper, drop a frost trap, and have the pet pull the trio that patrols. shoot one wolf with your Aspect-reduced auto shot, then focus on killing the leader. Use mend pet and feign death when needed, but absolutely keep viper up; You will never run out of mana. Once the leader is dead, kill the wolf you froze. while the pet is holding both, drop a frost trap a good distance back, and kill the current target. Before the current one dies, however, make your pet switch to the one you want to tame. Kill the first wolf, and abandon the current pet. The wolf will stall for a moment, then run to you. Hit tame beast, and you have a beautiful wolf.

Takes about 10-15 minutes if you take your time, and is well worth it. If you have the teleporter for Area 52/Toshley's Station, you have a chance to look like a female orc. Run around Stormwind like that if you can, it will get a few laughs.

A very cool hunter pet for sure, just got mine. As a note, unlike Wowhead's level range for the mob says, all the wolves in normal Ramparts appear to be 59, not 55+.

Also one thing I noticed is that this wolf doesn't seem to have any idle animations, it just stands still.

It's a bit tricky, but he can be solo tamed as low as level 64.
Roughly the same strat as other have said, kill the first two adds, the second one, and the third pair. I ignored the add on the right and pulled the left most wolf into a ice trap, pulled the other two adds back to the entrance and killed them, feigned death, healed and dismissed my trash pet then pulled the last remaining wolf into a trap again and began the tame.
Took me 3 trys but it was a fun challenge, named him ZugZug. :)

I just got one of these yesterday with my lvl 60 hunter. It's very easy to do with a group. Just mark one and tell them not to attack. It was extremely easy to solo pull from the 3rd group of these, before you get to the ramp. Had to do it twice though, because someone killed my first one right before it was fully tamed...i wasn't too happy about that. Mine is actually pretty good size too.

This is cool for an Alliance character, cool how you can get a horde 'mount' pet.
In my opinion, we should be able to tame an alliance pet like that one pet in Dragonblight.

They are tameable. I love the armor and it is ironic to see a horde wolf go up against the horde. The horde are like "horde: WTMF?". lol

Have to be level 59 to tame them.

Got this last night, had a druid 80 friend kill 1 dog and the trainer. Then couldn't tame cause of combat. Ran it to the zone, I dropped a trap on the bridge. She zoned out, he started coming after me and I started taming, he hit the trap and I knew I was golden.

Awesome upgrade from the white fuzzy wolf.

Once I obtained Black War Wolf and tamed this guy for my own, i named him Unridable..

Which made me lol whenever i would mount and dismount...

Managed to tame him solo yesterday. Level 60 Survival hunter. Got it 3rd try.
In the groups of 3 I would Hunter's Mark the one I wanted to kill (the one in the middle usually), Freezing Trap the on on the right and Wyvern Sting the one on the left. That would proc Lock n Load. I would kill the Marked one and then put down another freezing trap in front of the Wyvern'd enemy. Proc Lock n Load again and kite the third one with Ice trap. My pet was a cat, though there are definitely better choices of pet for this scenario. I named him Chips.

I have this on my 85 Hunter. It goes great with the Black War Wolf cause it looks just like him. When you mount or dismount it looks like you're getting on and off of your pet.

bah im aly but i love this pet look anyway... i abandoned him to tame the ghost worg (not the Karoma moob, but the lone hunter moob) i also love this pet

They are tameable, I just tamed one. I was a level 58 or 59 Hunter. The second time I did this dungeon, I asked my group to not attack the one I was taming and it worked.

Tried to tame a warhound on my first run at HR, but the group kept killing the warhounds. The healer and I waited out the RDF group, and ported back in after the mobs respawned. Kill everything in the front, and then froze one while we killed the other warhound and the orc. The warhound had aggro, so couldn't tame him. Ran back out to reset aggro, and easily tamed the lone warhound with a freeze trap with no interference from other mobs after we came back in.

If you can solo a 61 elite pretty comfortably (and took the wyvern sting talent), it is pretty easy to solo to get one of these and never have to engage more than one mob at a time using the sting and traps. You have two groups of two to take out along with a pat at the beginning and ideally a group of three to give yourself a little room once you get across the bridge at the beginning of the instance. There is a pat group of three, two wolves and an orc. Sting one, trap the other, kill the humanoid and the stung wolf and either tame or re-trap and tame the second wolf. Done.

As mentioned below, if you have the black war wolf mount, this pet is pretty much identical so it looks like you have a second mount following you around. The wolf also seems to be a little bigger than the normal wolf/worg pet, which is also nice.
