Mystic Rainbowhorn runs around the spot and there is nothing hard in this fight.
Just clear the area as rare charges back and there and may overpull wildlife around there.
Loot Runestag Soul and turn in the quest to unlock new skin for Soulshape

Mystic Rainbowhorn is located in the Ardenweald zone.

To summon this rare someone in the area need to use Great Horn of the Runestag.
It will spawn Rainbowhorn with big hp pull.
Rare will start running around the area. you can see possible map attached to this page Mystic Rainbowhorn

Fight is nothing special, but the rare can drop a reward quest item Runestag Soul.
This quest item is relevant only for Night Fay Covenant players and will give you a Runestag Soulshape form after you turn in the Runestag Soul

Rare is a part of Adventurer of Ardenweald achievement.

The Fey Stag form quest item is not 100% even if you have signed with them. I did not get it. I did however get an upgraded 158 epic version of Elderwood Piercer

I was killing the mobs in heartwood grove and out of nowhere I see in chat that I summoned this rare. Before I was able to find it near Tirna Vaal, it was already down to 1/3 of its health and what's best - it was tagged by horde... I was mad as hell.

I had the emote spam out in my name, and I had no idea what it meant so I consulted Wowhead. I looked for the Mystic Rainbowhorn rare, and it did indeed spawn... and it most definitely killed me. Easily. After finding my body, I looked for it again but it seemed to despawn.

I hadn't used any item, and definitely didn't have a Great Horn of the Runestag at all, so I think this is a bug.

tl;dr: Didn't have this item, didn't use this item, emote went out, rare was spawned, promptly killed me. Bug.

Edit: Happened again the very next day. Was fighting a mob, and the emote went out randomly. Didn't loot or blow the horn. I'm not going to submit a bug report though, because I figure a rare that is being spawned for free? That's kinda nice. :3

Emote went out saying I had summoned him when I hadn't clicked anything. Others in General were saying they also got the emote with their name in it.
~~Tag appears to be limited to 5 people. We had a raid attack it and only 5 got to loot out of the 22 in raid.~~

Tag issue is fixed, tested 1/12/2020. Everyone should now get loot from hitting this rare.

Currently there appears to be a bug? in which this mob can be faction tagged/tagged by a limited number of people. Or at least I hope it's a bug; if it's intentional, I gotta say, that was a terrible idea on Blizz's part. Either way, if you're hoping to try for the runestag drop, be ready for a competition.

had this spawn on the first live night it was running around really fast, dropped Elderwood piercer for me sadly instead of the form despite being night fey so it is NOT 100% DROP

I was just standing there minding my own business. I started playing the Fae Harp (I had just opened the Harmonic Chest), a few minutes in and I saw the text saying I summoned the stag (like everyone else had been seeing), but that's when it appeared directly in front of me. Probably just a coincidence but wondering if anyone using the harp had this happen to them? I was on the road, roughly 65,34 when it happened.

Spawns at 65.5, 29.1 every 2-3 hours on live. Patrols south going towards Tirna Vaal. It doesn't live for very long if it gets near town, tag quick because only a few people can get loot.

I camped at the north entrance of Tirna Vaal, no mobs that'll kill you while you're waiting.

Horn emote will go out saying you've rung the horn telling you it's spawned. I never rung the horn while waiting for the spawn or have seen the horn spawn. Pretty bizarre beta and live spawn locations/requirements are so different.

Edit: Looks like the emote is correct now and you need to click the horn to spawn (12/05/20).

I can confirm it spawns 65.5, 29.1 when the "...has blown the Great Horn of Runestag" appears in chat.
For fellow hunters, this stag cannot be tamed. I wanted to test it to see if the rainbow effect stays, but got message its not tameable.

I've been here the entire day, haven't seen or heard anyone speak of this rare being up. I've been camping with my friend on 2 locations. And we saw several groups for the rare with WM on.. So my guess it's bugged for WM off?

Edit: I think i'm pretty certain it doesn't spawn on WM OFF! Now I don't know if this is a bug or intended, the rare seems already pretty bugged. Because as soon as 5 or more people are attacking him he gets greyed out for other people.

This guy spawned in the middle of Tirna Vaal just now. Not only that, but he didn't drop a soulshape for me despite me being a member of the Night Fae. Watch out for that rainbow dash. :P

I've parked a character on Warmode and off Warmode. I've gone through every Custom LFG Ardenweald groups to try a different shard. No luck for the past 24-hours. =(

Spawned at 65, 29 for me too (road above Tirna Vaal), only took 3 of us to down, had about 500k health. Don't have exact spawn time but I was waiting there for a couple of hours.
Spawned after "*insert username* has blown the Great Horn of the Runestag, luring the Mystic Rainbowhorn out into the open."
I am level 60, Night Fae. 2/9 Night Fae Campaign but not sure if that matters.

I was on a flightpath earlier and missed the spawn, but it was wandering on the road north of Tirna Vaal and I had WM turned off. This was only a couple of hours ago on the first Friday after SL came out after maintenance this morning.

This mob can reset if you pull into town. I'm on horde side. Alliance dragged him into town and reset. Then they got first hit and it was greyed out for me and I got no loot at the end. :( Not sure if bug or not since it is a rare, I thought it would be lootable for both factions. Not the case for me. Not sure if anyone else has seen that happen.

I call bs on this 2-3 hrs spawn timer. My group and I have waited well over 4 hrs at his spawn for nothing. Need more clarification if he spawns in a singular location or throughout the zone.

On live as of 11/29/20 you definitely need to blow the horn to spawn him. I have spent a lot of time in Ardenweald and thought it was crazy that I never saw the emote for him spawning if he was actually a timed spawn, so I went looking for the horn. I found the horn at 44.8, 19.18. My gf was sitting camping his spawn point north of Tirna Vaal at 65.74, 28.43 and as soon as I clicked the horn he spawned by her. He was rather hard hitting and was wrecking her hunter pet, but I could take a couple hits as a havoc DH while she revived her pet then heal back up with leech and we killed it duo.

I didn't take a screenshot of the horn up because I didn't think about it at the time, if the horn is there some other time I'll grab a screenshot to submit.

We are both night fae and the soul shape quest item dropped for both of us.

I made an account specifically for this post since there was no accurate information anywhere about it, so hope you all enjoy and good luck!

Found Horn today at 27 45. If the Mystic Rainbowhorn is not spawning in your realm check the zones with ellites in it :)

Just making a quick post consolidating what I've come to realize while camping this guy. It has been confirmed by a few comments here and comments on the Great Horn of the Runestag page that the horn indeed spawns in different locations around the zone now. The horn is exactly how this mob spawns, and it's the horn, not the mob that is on the respawn timer.

Spawn Points For The Rare:

/way 65.5, 29.1

You can indeed wait in this spot and hope someone else hits a horn, but ideally you should have someone look for a horn while you camp. Setting your hearthstone to Tirna Vaal seems to be a good option as the rare seems to stick to the top area of the map. This mob can be reset if pulled too far.

The tag issue on this mob appears to have been fixed as well.

there is a horn around 40 70 east of Darkreach. I thought it probable that the horns are all around the edge.

Found Great Horn of the Runestag at 67.79, 54.84

I already have the Soulshape form so I announced it in General and gave people the time to get to 65.5, 29.1 where Mystic Rainbowhorn spawns.

Once everyone was there and happy, he spawned at that location, everyone got a tag and everyone was able to loot. The lower level people mentioned they could not loot Runestag Soul so I am guessing it's for 60 only.

Camped the known spawns with 6+ members. Took 2,5h+ for horn to spawn.

If you have killed the rare before choosing night fae as your covenant, you don't get the quest item on 2nd kill, but you still get the form and can change it from the NPC.

I found the horn around 38, 58 by one of the pieces of the Cache of the Moon. Thinking it would just give me a buff, I clicked it and the emote rang out across the zone. Jokes on me since it appears to spawn all the way on the opposite side from where I was.

Joined a raid to search for it, here what happened:

1. Found the horn around 67,54
2. The spawn was at around 65,29
3. All raid was able to tag it
4. All who were Night Fae did get the quest drop (so that confirms 100%?)
5. People who were not Night Fae with us didn't get the drop

Thank you Blizzard! Just used the horn at 38.40 - 65.90 DarkspearEU wmoff grp. The emote was in chat. Mystic Rainbowhorn ..spawnd at 65.00 - 29.00, non of us got any tag, befor it was dead, killed by others!

I recommend doing this early morning for less competition.

Logged in at 5am, found horn at the south middle location, rushed to his spawn point. There were already 2 people attacking and found him at half health.

But I got the soul shape! One of the best soul shapes if not the best

I've seen a ton of people say the horn isn't necessary. I camped Mystic Rainbowhorn's spawn all day yesterday while occasionally going out to search for the horn. Neither the horn or the rare spawned at all yesterday (horn was likely in an, as yet, unlisted location). Decided to do a round for the horn before doing dailies today (11DEC). Found it just south of Hibernal Hollow near Wrigglemortis at /way 58, 61 in a building with a Fae and her cat. Rare spawned near /way 65, 28

You definitely need to try and do this with at least one other person. If that isn't possible, set your hearth to Tirna Vaal.

Unsurprisingly, people don't actually share where the mob is when they blow the horn in-game, given it appears to not show up in the same spot. So if you, like me, see the announcement in-game that someone blew the horn, don't expect to actually get to tag the boss if you aren't already directly on top of wherever it decides to spawn, because you won't get there in time.

Found the horn @ 44, 19, ran over to 49, 19 hoping to find him there. Obviously, Blizz trolled me and had him spawn @ 65, 29, so I mounted up and ran there (HS was set to Revendreth, fml...), even though I was already sure I'd missed him yet again. He wasn't there, I thought he'd been killed but didn't see a corpse. I headed to Tirna Vaal to take a flight path to do other stuff, and on my minimap I saw the silver arrow pointing to a shiny. I headed that way and caught the Mystic Rainbowhorn @ 57, 35 - he was running (slower than a player mounted) on the path heading to Glitterfall Basin. Tagged, tanked, got the soulform.

My guess is if he spawns @ 65, 29 he runs to 49, 19 to, I don't know, camp there?

Unlisted Horn spawn (on handynotes at least) at 67.82 54.73. Another party member went there and we were phased from each other with no WQ nearby.

Can confirm that it takes around 2 hours for the horn to respawn.
When I found the horn for the first time (50, 20), I ported to Tirna Vaal instantly but couldn't find the rare anywhere. Also no one announced the location in the chat or created a group.
Found the horn again at the same location after 110 minutes and this time also the rare at 65.5, 29.1 (north of TV).

I did this on my druid during the first week of the xpac. I just found the horn again on an alt this evening and immediately hearthed to Tirna Vaal. To my unfortunate surprise, despite having blown the horn and seeing the chat message appear stating that the Mystic Rainbowhorn had been lured into the open, it was no where to be found. It did not spawn anywhere along its route as I traced the entire thing after having waited just north of Tirna Vaal for a bit. Beware of this possible bug.

I saw the star when I was on a flight to Heart of the Forest and went and found it as soon as I landed. I didn't even know what it was for, but how do you not chase after a rare called "Mystic Rainbowhorn"? It was 4 am, so no one else was around and it aggroed on me, so I fought it. Had I realized it was for the soulshape, I would have sent a message out to the zone.

Anyway, I was able to solo it (ilvl 195 protection paladin) easily, but it took a fairly long time (I think I was able to do 3 Avenging Wrath on it, so over 4 minutes). War Mode was off. The soulshape dropped for me.

found the horn in dark reach point, hs to TV, ran to spawn point - nothing. ran to other spawn points listed - nothing. saw a ton of horde running around the area, so not sure if they get the announcement in chat, but I have a feeling it was taken :(

I found the horn on the other side of the zone and blew it, not realising it would spawn on the opposite side of the map. Started walking towards it and finally caught up with it outside Tirna Vaal.. only for a world quest in the area (the animacones) stop me from seeing it. I did manage to tag it though, since it spawned right at the edge of the WQ area, so I eventually got it for the achievement but didn't get any loot. Don't be like me kids, and clear out WQ's before you blow that horn!

Hi, lucky today and got the mystic Rainbow form. I have never found the horn, however the alert came up in General chat in orange text while I was in the Heart of the Forest that the horn had been blown. Went straight to the flightmaster and went to Tirna Vaal, Stag was right there and joined the fight (just started shooting) got the quest for the form when the stag was killed. Very lucky I suspect as I was the only alliance toon there. Not sure if the orange text it was just an area alert or addon RareScanner that the horn had been used, however, whenever you get this message, go straight to Tirna Vaal to find the Stag. In this case, he was just in the middle of TV near the flight point.

It's is about a 2hr respawn timer for the horn. I was on when someone blew the horn and just missed tagging him before he died. I waited about hours and the horn spawned again at 28 45.

Fair warning:

If you found the horn, dont use it yet. Remember the position by marking it and then make sure you set your hearthstone to Tirna Vaal first. If you blow the horn while being far away from the spawn, the rare will appear and an emote will warn everybody about it. You can be PRETTY DAMN SURE no one will be waiting for you to arrive by time, EVEN if YOU found the horn and it even states that in the emote.

I clicked on the horn today.

There was a Orange-colored message in chat that read: 08:40:26 Deienjane has blown the Great Horn of the Runestag, luring the Mystic Rainbowhorn out into the open.

I asked and then discussed in General Chat for about 10 minutes regarding if the Rare does not always spawn where you blow the horn. My answers included "doesn't always spawn at that location", one person wrote that they "got there too late" and others wrote that it spawned In Tirna Vaal. There was never any information regarding exactly where in Tirna Vaal. All I know is if it did spawn, it was not anywhere near where it was summoned.

I am surprised to learn if you actually find the horn, you may be spawning the rare somewhere else for others to kill; not for you. I have still not seen or killed this rare.

Is the horn visible to 60+ players only? Have been checking with an alt on a very dead server, but could not see it for days on end. I'm using all the points listed as of 9.2, just wondering if I'm toiling in vain.

This rare does not scale down so you can't loot him even if you tag him while he is being killed as you can't loot mobs more than 10 levels above you.

Went on a Hunt for the Mystic Rainbowhorn today, following the waypoints kindly supplied by Yaoquin.
Once summoned, I was able to fly to North of Tirna Vaal and kill the Stag. It dropped the Elderwood Piercer which was great luck for my Hunter. I had no issue summoning, tagging and looting this rare at level 70.
