I'm hoping there's a nod to Garrosh via Thrall and Durak. In an in-game cutscene, that would be incredible. I think the whole drama with Garrosh, which Thrall was only able to clear up through a conversation with his mother in Shadowlands, is too little and not fair. It deserves more respect and was resolved far too quickly
Anduin is the next George Sisler!
Hmm. Ehhh. I'll let someone else review it first. I don't know if I need any more Anduin heart rending, I've had quite enough of that. I'm ready for his grow-a-pair hero arc.
Link doesn't seem to work
put em in game too, blizzard. please?
I'm looking forward to reading these. But, it does feel weird that these will be in book format. Blizzard used to give us the short stories that dive deeper, for free on the website.I could be wrong, of course. Maybe they not truly "short", but long enough to together be the equivalent of the standard book that bridges the gap between expansions. If so, I'll gladly withdraw my words. Though I do hope we do continue to see that free content. As for the stories themselves. It's fun to see there's both comments of "Put this stuff in the game!" and "Don't put more soppy feelings #$%^ into the game!"I think WoW stories outside the game work best, when they get into character deep dives. The stories they intend to tell here seem to be all about personal journeys. These benefit from being told in a story, where you get to see into a character's mind and experience their emotions. Not a quest where you skip the quest text to kill whatever mobs have a red health bar, doing whatever reason Blizzard has thought up now, to shoehorn the Murderhobo- <cough> the Champion of Azeroth into the story of the NPC. You can't turn every story into a quest. And if they're going to put anything into a story, let it be either history or character exploration. Not details vital to the game plot. They've made that mistake plenty in the past. But none of these tails feel like they are at risk of having the next "Garrosh kills Baine's father and Magetha Grimtotem conquers Thunder Bluff" or "Garrosh is freed from his trial and changes history on alternate Draenor".I'm fine with this.
Oh good more things that like Chronicles can be retconed to be just like someone's opinion later on or outright ignored. After the Chronicles debacle they don't deserve another cent.To say nothing of the fact they should have from day 1 never charged for lore for a subscription game that also charges for expacs (and these days also sells pay2win with tokens, mounts, pets, outfits, trader's tender, etc). At this point continuing to gate any lore behind additional purchase required books is absurd contempt for the dwindling playerbase.
Do you remember how, during the Cataclysm, similar “short stories” about important characters were published on the game’s official website? Eh, it was a golden time
So speculation then is that people will be too busy playing the game to read it if this comes out after TWW release, so when they said end of the year release for the next expac, they really meant it. Now the guess is after Thanksgiving at least. My guess is 2 weeks before Xmas (enough time to fix* major bugs before everyone goes on vacation but early enough for the sales to be high through gift giving).
