Yay! He isn’t dead!
This is a complete admission that the system does not work at all. Player crafting should not need to be propped up by bots, nevermind one so terrible in all other respects. Just get rid of it, Blizz.
Hmm imho these orders should be personal orders or something to be like a mission table, public orders gonna be a nightmare.
I still prefer to let my alts to work orders to get skill point. In the end I can still disenchant or sell the crafted items, and I can select to create cheap crap to get the nn crafting orders per week done.
This is the biggest failure for me in Dragonflight and looks to continue moving forward. Professions used to be fun for me to level up as I leveled my characters. I could then count on myself to make whatever I needed at end game, or support another player that had a recipe I didn't. Now, out of 26 level 70 characters, I have 2 at 100 for their profession. Forcing crafters to use public work orders to get the skill ups is ridiculous and absolutely off-putting.
The system was so bad that I accidently wasted 10k worth of mats without realizing it. Yeah thats how I found out the hard way the system was #$%^. Every since then I had to download an addon "No mats no make" and noticed that the 12 postings became almost non existant. Nobody uses the system because everything thats relevant goes through personal orders. If this NPC posting is not a personal order (aka public) it will be sniped by bots instantly and the average crafter won't ever see it .
The system is fine. Just stop making rewards/achievements for it. If someone provides all mats and wants to tip 10g I am happy to spend 10 seconds crafting and sending it over. People feel forced to do it for achievements/skill knowledge so we are all just using alts with personal orders for something easy and cheap to do it. It's a cool little system that can just be that. Nothing major, nothing you have to engage in just a cool thing to do if you see a public order and want to make tiny bit of gold and help a homie out.
The problem I had with work orders was gating the leveling of the profession behind it. It effectively meant you had to cheat the system or at least one person was getting severely shorted for it. Above all, THIS has to be addressed.
They really need to "link" the auction house with the work orders, so that whenever someone decides to post a work order without the mats, it should show how much the mats is currently worth on the AH and also pop up with a warning when placing a order, that your order does not include enough funds for the materials if you don't provide enough in gold commission, and that you are basically calling for someone to make it at their expense, by wording it in such a way that people at least becomes aware that they are doing this and sort of guilt tripping them into paying a higher commission, one that at least covers the gold for the materials, would be the best.
Easy fix for public work orders:- you can't put an order without mats- crafted gear quality should be guaranteed (remove the new stupid thing called concentration, if you use lvl3 mats you get lvl3 gear and done)Done
Blizzard needs to implement a better tutorial for the new crafting system. I ended up having to skip Shadowlands and came back in Dragonflight last October. I got very confused with the profession changes and haven't leveled any beyond 40-50. I haven't figured out the order system at all whether it's to place an order or do an order. The quest to direct you to the order interface isn't very helpful at all. I gave up even trying and just sell mats instead. I don't use the interface at all so I don't even know how to request something like some of the dragonriding glyphs. I have a bunch of those upgrade items to a certain item level and I don't even know what I'm doing with those. I also don't get recrafting. I was getting confused with crafting in BFA as it was and didn't even max my professions back then, but now I'm really confused. If I have to go to a third party source to understand a system in WoW, Blizzard screwed up. I very much doubt I'm the only one confused on the crafting system changes. Blizzard needs a better, more in depth tutorial. Then the talent tree thing is just as confusing. It takes forever to max them out and if you change your mind on where points are allocated, you're out of luck. No respec. I also don't care for the equipping of my mining axe, skinning dagger, etc even after I've walked away from the node. Any profession trainer for that profession should be able to turn it off but I've only found the one at the Ruby shrine. I'm sure many players have run right past that NPC, too. I don't like the new system at all. Blizzard effectively deleted an entire segment of the game in my mind thanks to a convoluted system that requires I go watch videos on Youtube to figure out because they can't explain it very well in their own game. Again, I doubt I'm the only confused one which may also explain why crafting orders are so rare from other players. If more actually understood the system, maybe there would be more even if the tip is abysmal.
Mining stuff to craft with and crafting stuff to mine with. Did your dad write this game ?
