I think a good balance could be releasing little teaser images -- enough to get us guessing but not enough to solidify anything. It lets us all have fun brainstorming and having reactions and trying to piece it together while we wait.
I just want some confirmation that season 4 is thought out and not super delayed. 10.2.6 is whatever, they gave some warning there would be no information.
I think the wowhead post of weekly news being "There is no news" is absolutely hilarious and that is a wowhead problem, not a wow problem.I think them keeping 10.2.6 tight lipped is actually very cool, but frankly it cant be THAT big otherwise it would get leaked in some manner. I think it is unfortunately going to lead to inevitable dissapointment. But surprises in WOW are rare and they should keep pursuing them.
My main concern with 10.2.6 is that will be something like Azerothian Archives or some small feature that only a few people will actually want to engage with. But because there was a mystery it will cause people to get their hopes and make into something much bigger than it is and lead to a lot of disappointment.
Not having any updates sucks big time. The current iteration with Outlaw having a ton of issues, the current state of raid being probably the most annoying of the expansion etc... I need some good news and no news is bad news.
Why does Taliesin's opinion now suddenly represents the community? I'm finding super fun this whole secrecy around patch 10.2.6.It's fun to speculate and be surprised every now and then.
Infoless patches are okay with me. Let me get my old man glasses and accent on...Back in my day before Wowhead existed as it is now, and all we had was Thottbot (not those kind of thots kids, back on topic), us WoW grandpas didn't know what a patch would hold. It was a time of surprise and excitement with each patch, friends would stand around the water cooler speculating on what could happen, all before these here young data miners knew every little thing under Azeroth's sun.
I just sincerely hope that the wait is worth it, and whatever is coming is going to blow us away. But I am tempering expectations.
Im waiting for this patch to be so secretive, so hyped up, with so much anticipation, just for blizzard to let us down with lackluster storytelling and cheap cutscenes once more. Oh, or wait, what's even better! Recolors of existing pirate hat models.
players never win in patch content.if ptr is there then they learn / datamine it to tryhard the content before its released.when said content is released they do it in 10 min then ask why no content.if no ptr (somehow they keep this more silent than expansion reveals being leaked) players cry regardless.
I mean if they'd just give us an actual date, I'm sure people would be less prickly about it. Myself included. That's really my only gripe, though.
it remains nothing to me until it drops thats how it should be treated and looked at they need to do some pvp class tuning on these damn demon hunters
People say there's communication.. but there has been.. just without spoiling a single shred about it.
What if 10.2.6 is just a massive April Fool's joke?
As much as I like Holly, a few words are not going to change my feeling that this news blackout was "coincidentally planned" right when the merger finished and all the layoffs happened. A lot of QA and CS were lost, which are teams who work on PTR deployments and announcements. Gosh, how lucky that there is no PTR to deploy!I have no hype for this patch, I don't see how they possibly have the staff to make anything good. You would need QA to do a patch with no PTR, and M$ just laid off a ton of them. That's why we need communication; Blizzard is not a company we trust anymore. In the absence of information, we assume the worst - And sadly, if the last few years taught us anything, it's usually even worse than we assumed.
Silence on a patch is fine. I think it's a cool alternative. The problem is that it's been radio silence on almost everything, not just on the patch. They should have filled the space with more War Within news, more news about season 4, just something else.
Blizzard could easily keep people happy by releasing Season 4 info. But no. They CHOSE to do this to themselves. They CHOSE to be radio silent. They CHOSE to not give any information about upcoming patches. They CHOSE all of this.Fortunately, I CHOSE to move on to other games till War Within.
